Our Story

SeaComply was formed to help companies and vessel operators operate safely and comply with best practices and regulations. We offer a complete service especially focussed on workboats, superyachts, code vessels and domestic passenger vessels; however, we have also worked in other allied fields, such as water safety in civil engineering projects, assisting in USV autonomy projects, aquaculture safety and training centre accreditation.

Our Auditors all have a maritime background and are either Masters or Engineers so have the ability to take a practical view to the problems faced. They have a wealth of experience in running boats and systems as well as specialised skills in safety, engineering, workboats, code vessels, superyachts
or passenger vessels.

<p class="font_8">Simon has been in the maritime business since 1987 and auditing since 2002.</p>
<p class="font_8">He ran an Accreditation Organisation for 8 years, managing a team of inspectors who audited over 400 centres annually. Wrote requirements for worldwide implementation. Audited worldwide and assisted national administrations in the implementation of systems and managed the RYA large vessel training department for 8 years.</p>
<p class="font_8">He represented BSI and EBA on International Standards Committees for the design of the current ISO standard lifejacket.</p>
<p class="font_8">Previously committee member of the National water safety forum, responsible to the government and part of many MCA/BMF/RNLI/RLSS/RYA working groups to standardise lifejacket use on vessels.</p>
<p class="font_8">Head of UK small vessel Sea Survival Training for 7 years, training instructors and recog.</p>
<p class="font_8">Previous committee member of the MCA SEAC working group (Sea Equipment Advisory Committee) and on the Combined Defence Forces committee for maritime safety equipment, including lifeboat, davit launch, MES and POD survival systems. Member of small craft safety advisory committee reporting to government.</p>
<p class="font_8">The Royal Institute of Navigation awarded him, Fellowship for contributions to Maritime Safety.</p>

<p class="font_8">Dan has been working in the maritime industry since 2003, working in boatyards repairing and maintaining vessels on the East Coast. He then worked offshore on wind farm support vessels in the renewable energy sector where he quickly gained his MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and then moved onto his MCA Master 200gt qualification. He has then built top an extensive seagoing career on tugs, multicats and workboats, working on construction projects and in coastal and offshore towing.</p>
<p class="font_8">Dan trained as a Marine surveyor in 2019 and is a practicing surveyor with MECAL and the Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors. Since then he has been approved as an MCA coding surveyor with MECAL, inspecting code vessel under the workboat code and the small vessel codes. Daniel has also worked for the Port of London Authority to conduct Thames Freight Standard surveys on barges and workboats.</p>
<p class="font_8">Over time Dan has amassed a lot of experience running vessels, as well as inspecting, surveying and auditing. He is a trained auditor and DP, holds IOSH qualifications and has IMO maritime teaching qualifications. He spends his time lecturing in vessel construction and maritime health and safety and surveying code vessels. His background knowledge and keen eye for detail makes him a thorough maritime auditor and consultant.</p>
